The clinic is at Project Dao, Shop 2/8 Botany Road, Alexandria, on the ground floor, a short walk from Redfern station. There is free two-hour street parking behind the building, and the 309 and 392 buses stop directly in front. This post covers the practical side of a visit: how to get here from the surrounding suburbs, when I am open, what to bring, and what happens if you simply walk in. The contact page has the map and the same details in short form.

Where Project Dao is

Botany Road is the main road running south from Redfern through Alexandria, and number 8 is at the Redfern end of it. Project Dao is a shared space. My treatment room is inside it, and the wider team offers massage, tai chi and qi gong under the same roof, so you may see a class finishing as you arrive.

The entrance is at street level with no steps, and the space is wheelchair accessible. If you have any access needs, mention them when you book and I will meet you at the door.

Parking

There is free two-hour parking behind the clinic on Wyndham Street and on Cope Street. Two hours is comfortably enough for an initial consultation, which runs to about an hour, or for a follow-up. Please check the signs when you park, as street parking conditions can change.

If you cycle, Alexandria is flat and easy to reach by bike from Redfern, Erskineville and Waterloo. There is no dedicated bike parking, but you can lock up to the pole outside or bring your bike inside the clinic.

Getting here by train and bus

Train. Redfern station is the closest, one stop from Central, and from the platforms it is a walk of a few minutes to Botany Road. If you are coming from the city, the inner west or further afield, Redfern is usually one easy change or none.

Bus. The 309 and 392 both stop in front of the clinic on Botany Road. If you are coming from the city, or from the suburbs south along Botany Road, these are the simplest option.

A line for each nearby suburb

  • Redfern. Walk. Most of Redfern is within easy walking distance, and the two buses cover the rest.
  • Waterloo. Also walkable for most people. Waterloo sits directly east of Botany Road, so it is a straight walk across, or a short bus ride.
  • Zetland. A short drive with parking behind the clinic, or a bus into Redfern and the same short walk.
  • Rosebery. Drive and park on Wyndham or Cope Street, or catch a bus north along Botany Road.
  • Erskineville. Next door to the west. Walk, cycle, or take the train a few minutes to Redfern.
  • Newtown. Train from Newtown to Redfern takes a few minutes, then the walk. Cycling along the back streets is also popular.
  • Surry Hills. Redfern station sits at its southern edge, so from there it is the same short walk, or a bus down to Botany Road.

Opening hours

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am to 8pm
  • Saturday: 9am to 3pm

Evening appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday suit people finishing work in the city or nearby, and the Saturday session suits anyone who cannot get away during the week. Same-day appointments are often available, and no referral is needed.

What to bring

Whether you are booking acupuncture or a naturopathy consultation, the list is short:

  • Your health fund details, if your extras cover includes acupuncture. Claims are not processed on the spot; I email you an itemised invoice after your visit to submit through your fund’s app or website.
  • A list of medications and supplements you take, or simply the bottles. I ask about these in every first consultation.
  • Loose, comfortable clothing. Acupuncture points are often on the lower legs, forearms and back, so trousers that roll up and a top that lifts easily save fuss.
  • Something in your stomach. Eat within a couple of hours of your appointment. Not a heavy meal right before, and not an empty stomach either.
  • A few notes on what you would like to discuss, and on sleep, digestion, energy and stress, since these come up in every first visit.

If it is your first acupuncture appointment, I have written a separate post on what to expect at a first acupuncture appointment, from the conversation through to how you might feel afterwards.

Walk-ins, same-day and online

You do not need a referral to see me. You can book online through the website, call the clinic, or walk in during opening hours. If I am with a patient when you arrive, I will still come out to reception to see you, and we can book the next available time.

For naturopathy follow-ups, a video or phone consultation is available when you cannot get to Alexandria. Initial consultations are always in person. If you are not sure which option suits, the contact page lists the phone number and email, and a quick call will sort it out.

Ready to book?

You can book online at any hour, or call the clinic on (02) 9341 5775 during opening hours. If you are walking from Redfern station for the first time, allow a few extra minutes and I will see you at the door.
