Guasha

  • Great for colds and flus, aches and pains and releasing toxins or ‘heat’ from the body.

Guasha is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure on the skin to relieve pain and tension. It can be used in multiple ways- for cosmetic purposes gently on the face and other areas, as a myofascial release technique for knots and stiff muscles and as a way to gently remove toxins or ‘heat’ from the body.

General Questions

What is Guasha?
  • Gua Sha, also known as scraping, is a massage technique which involves rubbing the skin with an implement (usually jade) which increases blood circulation at that localised area. Gua Sha is a myofascial technique which breaks up muscle adhesions and improving range of motion. It is typically used for conditions for pain relief but can also be used for facial rejuvenation.

  • Petichiae or ‘Sha’ refers to the red marks that come up through guasha and reflects the elimination of toxins from the body. These will go away within 1-7 days.
