We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and, because we provide health services, the additional obligations that apply to health information under Australian law.

What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and postal address.
  • Health information: your health history, current concerns, medications and supplements, test results you share with us, and clinical notes made during your care. Health information is “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act and receives a higher level of protection.
  • Payment and claiming details: records of payments and, the information required to issue an itemised invoice for a private health fund claim. We do not store your full card details.
  • Website information: information you submit through our contact and appointment forms, and limited technical data collected by our website software.

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you: when you complete an intake form, during consultations, when you contact us by phone, email or a website form, and when you book an appointment. Bookings are processed by our booking partner, Bodhi Holistic Hub, which collects your booking details under its own privacy policy.

Why we collect it

  • To provide safe, appropriate care, which requires an accurate health history
  • To manage appointments, reminders and clinical records
  • To process payments and health fund rebates
  • To respond to your enquiries
  • To meet our legal and professional obligations, including record-keeping requirements that apply to registered health practitioners

Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only disclose it: with your consent (for example, writing to your GP or another health provider at your request); to service providers who help us operate, such as our booking platform, practice software and payment/claiming providers, and only to the extent needed; or where the law requires or permits disclosure, including mandatory reporting obligations that apply to health practitioners.

Third-party services

This website links to and embeds services provided by third parties, including Bodhi Holistic Hub (online bookings) and Google (maps and reviews). These providers handle any information you give them under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies.

Storage and security

Clinical records are stored securely and access is limited to Ahil Ganesan and, where applicable, the systems used to run the practice. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Health records are retained for at least the period required by law in New South Wales: generally seven years from your last visit, or for patients under 18, until they turn 25.

Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. In limited circumstances the law allows or requires us to refuse access; if that happens we will tell you why.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies needed for the site to function. We also use Google Analytics to collect anonymised statistics about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and for how long, to help us improve it. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and handles this data under Google’s privacy policy; it does not receive your name, contact details or any health information from us. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser opt-out add-on.
